Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03­) celebrated her granddaughter’s 18th birthday in style, getting tattoos together.

Her team released a photo of the colorful ink on her left bicep. The design includes a rose with a petal in the shape of a “D” to represent her name.

The bottom left of the rose resembles Italy, to symbolize her connection to the country her father immigrated from.

She says her granddaughter wanted to get them together.

“She’s off to college in the fall and this strengthens our bond. I have four more grandkids who still haven’t turned 18 yet so be on the lookout for more new ink!” said DeLauro.
