With just days until the primaries, two Republican candidates vying for the chance to run against Gov. Dannel Malloy are working to get their message out.
Greenwich businessman Tom Foley is the party-endorsed candidate. The second candidate is Senate Minority Leader John McKinney.
This is Foley's second run at governor. He was the GOP-endorsed candidate in 2010 and narrowly lost to Gov. Malloy. Critics recently questioned Foley and said his plans lack specifics. He says he has been clear for over a year about what he will do regarding the economy.
McKinney spent part of Thursday speaking with people at the Greenwich Senior Center. He says his campaign has the momentum heading into the primary, and points to his 15 years in the state Senate as proof he knows what it takes to lead the state.
The two candidates agree that voter turnout is the X-factor in the race and will determine who becomes the Republican gubernatorial candidate.
The primary is set to take place Aug. 12.
