The historic human remains found last month in Ridgefield were examined for the first time Friday at Quinnipiac University.

The three sets of skeletal remains were found when construction was being done on an old basement in a home. Workers dug down 2 feet and discovered the remains.

Archaeologists and historians say they believe they are from the Revolutionary War era. After the state Medical Examiner determined the remains to be historic, they were excavated and brought to Quinnipiac for further study.

Radiologists at the university say the first set of bones examined suggest signs of a relatively young person, possibly in their 20s to 30s.

Professors working on the imaging say that this is an exciting project to be a part of.

Archaeologists are still excavating the other sets of remains. Researchers at Quinnipiac say they are keeping the bones covered until any possible family members could decide if they want them to be shown publicly.

Researchers will continue to study the remains to paint an image of who they were and their story over the next few days.
