Sacred Heart University has introduced a new app to help students access emergency services.
The new app, called SHU Safe, was created by the school's public safety department. Students are able to use the app to make emergency calls, file anonymous reports and request safety checks. The app also requires students to enter vital information that police need during an emergency response.
The app comes three weeks after a man allegedly broke into a student's home and sexually assaulted her.
Public safety officials at the school say almost 600 students have downloaded the app since it launched.
