Sacred Heart University has expanded to Ireland.
On Friday, the Fairfield-based university opened its newly renovated and expanded campus in Dingle, which will be informally known as SHU Dingle.
In 2017, SHU acquired the former Christian Brothers School and began renovations.
SHU Dingle will offer courses on Irish culture and Celtic religion, along with science, business, nursing and communication classes.
Officials say the opening marks the school's two-decade commitment to higher education and community engagement in the region. They add that the campus will also help contribute to the local economy and cultural landscape.
Since 2004, SHU has operated a study aboard program from Dingle and has hosted more than 500 students annually.
