Hurricane Sandy victims had the chance to meet with representatives from FEMA today as the agency opened a temporary center this afternoon in Fairfield.
FEMA will open another center Thursday in Norwalk at City Hall to help residents hit hard by Sandy.
The center in Fairfield is located at the Public Health Nurses' building behind the Fairfield Senior Center at 100 Mona Terrace.
FEMA officials say those affected should apply online first before coming to the center to find out whether they qualify for federal assistance.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved more than $411 million in aid for Hurricane Sandy victims in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey.
The Fairfield FEMA center will be open through Wednesday. To apply, visit FEMA's website at DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362.
