Thursday marks three years since Superstorm Sandy rocked southwestern Connecticut, leaving destruction in its wake.
During the storm in 2012, News 12 viewers sent in many photos of the damage left behind in their communities. Many depicted flooded streets, fallen trees and other sights of destruction.
A Wilton family told News 12 that they remember waking up to find they were trapped in their home after a massive oak tree fell in their yard. The family spent eight days without power following the hurricane.
While some homeowners were left in the dark, others found themselves underwater. Workers at the All Seasons Marina in Westport remember finding their lot completely flooded.
Rather than dwell on the terrible moments captured on camera, many residents say they simply feel grateful that no lives were lost in their area.
