A sanitation worker was crushed by his truck?s garbage compactor in Westport Monday. Ronald Booth, a 50-year-old man from Bridgeport, was found dead at the scene. Tom Duffy, a plumber working nearby, says he saw the truck stopped by a home on Greens Farms Road around 2:30 p.m. After noticing the truck in the same spot for 45 minutes, the concerned plumber found Booth wedged in the back. Duffy said it appeared Booth tried to escape, but was unsuccessful.An investigation into the death is underway by both the police and OSHA. The garbage truck is being held by the Westport Police Department.Booth had been an employee of Malone?s Refuse for almost 19 years. His co-workers describe the man as having a big heart and always being willing to help others.
