Santa’s helper: Trumbull teen’s free wrapping is her gift to the community
A Trumbull teen is playing Santa's helper this holiday season, something she calls her gift to the community.
Christmas is Sarah Wojtaszec's favorite holiday. “I just really like the family portion of it,” she says.
Sarah says she put a flyer online offering free gift wrapping for anyone who needs it. "I really just wanted to help people out," says Sarah. "I wanted to give back to the community."
In light of the pandemic, Sarah felt some people might not have time to do it themselves or might not have a moment alone away from the kids.
"People have just been very grateful for it,” says Sarah. "They’ve asked to pay me, and I've obviously declined and said donate it to somewhere else."
People drop off their gifts, preferably with wrapping paper at her front door, and then she has them done in a day or two.
“Wrapping is one of the really good things about Christmas,” says Sarah. "Just gives me a little extra joy in the holidays."
Sarah has wrapped 32 presents so far and plans to continue offering up her skills to anyone who needs them until the holiday.
“It just makes me feel really good to see their smiling faces when they come to the door and pick their presents up,” says Sarah.
