A seminar was held Thursday to prevent seniors from being the victims of a scam or fraud.
Chase Bank, Eisenhower Senior Center and Bridgeport police partnered to host the event.
The goal was for seniors to learn how to identify potential scams.
Chase Bank community manager Eduardo Cabrera says seniors are most likely to be the victims of a scam or fraud due to their age and because they have large amounts of assets.
Warning signs of being scammed include being asked for sensitive information, such passwords and birthdays, in an urgent manor.
Cabrera says scammers will also play on people's emotions and cause people to become excited or fearful.
"If someone feels like they have fallen victim and they have an idea that something is not right I would say go to whatever source they are referring to. So, if they say they are calling from the bank, call the bank directly. Don't feel ashamed if you fell victim. It's so important that you report it. And you are not alone. And you should not feel ashamed because there are go at what they do," he says.
Cabrera recommends people set up credit monitoring and account alerts, so they can be notified immediately of a scam or fraud.
