Secretary of the State Denise Merrill announced Wednesday that she will be proposing an amendment to let people vote absentee without an excuse.
"The availability of absentee ballots allowed more than 650,000 people to safely and conveniently cast their ballots, and helped to drive what will ultimately be among the highest turnout elections in Connecticut history," she says in a statement.
If the amendment is passed, it could be on the ballot as early as November 2022, along with an amendment for early voting.
