Sen. Richard Blumenthal is promoting a fundraiser for a senior citizen who needs a special chairlift to get to her second-floor apartment.

Blumenthal teamed up with Bridgeport leaders to make an appeal for 77-year-old Rosemary Stancill.

A viewer donated a chairlift to her, but it is not compatible with her staircase.

A local chairlift company says a custom model will cost thousands.

“Without this chairlift, she’s essentially trapped here. I hope people will be generous, inspired by Rosemary’s courage and strength, which I’ve so come to admire,” says Sen. Blumenthal.

If the fundraiser is successful, the company will install the custom chairlift for free.
