A Marine Corps veteran is seeking to find a new home due to a traumatic brain injury.
Raye Ruff, 61, is suffering the effects of T.B.I. due to one stroke and two car accidents. His wife tells News 12 the couple needs a first-floor apartment because Ruff can no longer get up and down the stairs, leaving him stuck on the second floor.
Sen. Richard Blumental says he'll try to help the veteran get the accommodations he's entitled to under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
March is Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Month. The Brain Injury Association of America is sponsoring the annual observance.
Organizers say this case is "emblematic of a widespread problem," with many T.B.I. patients not getting the benefits they are entitled to under law.
