April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month in Connecticut.
Officials came from across southwestern Connecticut to Stamford's Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education Thursday to spread awareness. Center advocates and lawmakers say even though help is available, stronger police work and more funding is needed to combat the problem.
"There is more tension in families, more domestic abuse, more sexual assault, more children who are victims in the tough economic times," says Attorney General Richard Blumenthal.
