Sherman man charged with murder
A 65-year-old man from Sherman has been charged with murder.
State police say James Maharg called 911 just after 2 a.m. Wednesday to report a person inside the Church Road home had fallen and hit their head on the countertop.
When they arrived, police found the 63-year-old victim dead. The first selectman says the victim was Maharg's longtime partner. Police have not released his name.
They say due to several suspicious circumstances, the Western District Major Crime Squad and Danbury State's Attorney were called to the scene.
After an extensive investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant and charged Maharg with murder and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
Maharg is being held on $2 million bond. He was arraigned at the hospital today after suffering a medical episode during a police interview.
