A New Canaan family is desperately seeking the help of the public to help bring their beloved dog home after she was taken in a stolen vehicle Sunday morning.
"We really are just wanting our dog home," pleas Amanda Coulon, of New Canaan.
New Canaan police say Coulon parked her Range Rover in a parking space in the area of 80 Main Street, and left the vehicle running with the keys inside. Also, inside the vehicle was her 3-year-old, brown French Bulldog named Poppy.
Coulon says she went into the nail salon to give her daughter a quick goodbye before heading to the airport for a flight to Florida. She came back outside to her car and Poppy inside it gone.
"I immediately called 911 and let them know my car had been stolen," said Coulon, "On a Sunday afternoon, I'm not considering that that's going to be a problem for a minute or two, and that was my mistake."
New Canaan police say the car got onto the Merritt Parkway and went northbound on Exit 38.
The car's tracker pinned a stop in North Haven and then New Britain, but then went off the grid. Now the family is pleading for Poppy's safe return.
"We just really miss her and she's a really special part of our family," said Coulon.
