Plant-lovers can shop weekly from over 25 farms for the freshest cut florals and plants at The Connecticut Flower Collective.

"This is a really fun time of year, kind of the transition from spring into summer, so we have a huge diversity of colors and types of flower," manager Jill Shea says.

The Connecticut Flower Collective can be described as a sort of farmers market, but just for flowers and plants. The varieties change weekly depending on what's in bloom.

Nancy Gorkin is the owner of Earth Garden in New Canaan, and she says it's important to shop locally and help reduce the carbon footprint.

"During the growing season, I buy as much as I possibly can from the local farmers. One, to support local farming. And two, they are fresh, they last a long time," Gorkin says.

Shea says the state's unique microclimate extends certain blooming cycles.

"Connecticut, you know, is kind of a big rectangle, and we have everyone and every quadrant because of that we get really early flowers , and we get really late flowers," Shea says.

All shoppers are welcome, wholesale and the public. Check the collective's website for visiting hours.
