Back-to-school shopping can often mean pressure on the wallet, but the state is trying to give shoppers a break with the kick off of tax-free week Sunday.
Even though tax-free week falls right before kids go back to school, school supplies are not included. The break applies to clothing and shoes under $300.
Shopper Tracy Smith, a mother of five, says the 6 percent saved this week will really add up for her. She says the money saved in tax can be used to buy items like school supplies for her children.
Items purchased during tax-free week and exchanged for like items when the week is over will have the tax break applied. The tax-free holiday lasts until August 25.
