People will soon be able to fly directly to Jamaica from Bradley International Airport.
Spirit Airlines will provide year-round service from Windsor Locks to Montego Bay, with flights taking off four times a week.
The route is expected to start on Dec. 15.
Officials say this is the first time a non-stop flight to the island will be offered by airline that services Bradley.
Gov. Ned Lamont called Thursday's announcement long awaited.
In a statement, Lamont said the news will make it easier for residents, especially those with Jamaican ancestry, to travel directly to Jamaica and strengthens Bradley's reputation as one of the best and most convenient airports.
