Employees of a Bridgeport Sports Authority slated to close say they're still hopeful a competitor will buy the store and save their jobs.
The retail chain announced Thursday that it would close or sell 140 of its 463 stores throughout the country as it faces bankruptcy.
The Main Street store in Bridgeport -- which celebrated its grand opening a little more than a year ago -- is among those chosen to close.
Officials say the company may sell individual branches to competitors, which would save jobs.
Sport Authority did not return calls News 12 made to its corporate headquarters requesting comment, but local officials say they expect to learn within a few days whether the store will close or be sold.
