Candidates in the heated race for the seat in Connecticut's 4th Congressional District are pinning their hopes on strong efforts to get their supporters to the polls.
Members of Rep. Christopher Shays' (R-Conn.) campaign says they are confident with their game plan. They say they have numerous volunteers and paid staffers canvassing neighborhoods.
Shays' opponent, Jim Himes, has about 250 people working phone banks and another 250 people going door to door. The campaign says it is focusing on people who are supporting Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Himes, but just need an extra push to go vote.
Polls will be open in Connecticut Tuesday from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.
