The man who Stamford police say used a garage door opener from an unlocked car to get into a home while the family slept appeared in court today.
According to investigators, Larry Bowman, 33, broke into a number of vehicles early yesterday morning on Fifth Street before he got inside one home.
In court documents released today, detectives described how Bowman allegedly rifled through two rooms, including one where two children were sleeping.
Officers say Bowman was confronted by the homeowner and fled. Police later caught up with him and found items he had allegedly taken from the broken-into cars.
Prosecutors told the judge today that Bowman needs medical and mental health treatment, but didn't elaborate.
