Stamford kicked off the annual Winter Restaurant Weeks on Monday, which will run for two weeks with 31 businesses participating.
News 12’s Angelica Toruno went to check out a couple of the restaurants digging into the event.
"We're off to a great start,” said Peter Valis, the owner of The Americano & Kouzina. “Today is our first day of Restaurant Weeks, and as you can see it's been much busier than expected…we're very fortunate for that."
Residents have the choice of classic favorites or entirely new dishes. Each of the participating restaurants has a special menu for a fixed price.
"Restaurant week is very exciting for us because we can bring new items on the menu and we can experience [it] with the public,” said Giuseppe Castagna, the owner of Zaza Italian Gastrobar.
Zaza general manager Francesco Buscema said their restaurant has a $20 lunch menu with a two-course option. For dinner, they’ll be offering a three-course option with dessert and a complimentary glass of wine.
This two-week event is just another way the city helps its restaurant industry dish out attention. It’s also an opportunity for new restaurants like The Americano – which just opened its doors in December – to show customers what they are serving up.
"Looking forward to seeing a lot of new faces, especially here at The Americano because a lot of people still haven't been here yet,” said Valis. “It's a great opportunity to come in at a discount, give us a try, check out the space and really enjoy the atmosphere and the vibe."
People can take advantage by grabbing a bite up until March 3.
