Stamford business owners on Hope Street are trying to spread hope through the pandemic by placing teddy bears and other stuffed animals inside of their storefront windows.
It's part of the Springdale Unity Stroll, where families and residents in the Springdale section of Stamford are encouraged to walk through Hope Street to enjoy the sights of the stuffed animals inside the storefront windows.
The stroll is taking place from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, which is the same day that some businesses will begin opening across Connecticut.
Nick Karayiannis, of Pine Hill Deli & Grill, is preparing to open outdoor seating.
But not everyone will be offering outdoor seating.
The owner of Sunny & Frankie's, Corey Falcone, says he can't accommodate many customers for outdoor dining so he will continue to make take-out orders.
"We all want everyone to do well," Falcone says.
As for the stuffed animals in the windows, business owners say it's something they can all agree on.
"It's important to bring the spirits back up for the people, it's been tough. The neighborhood is a very tight-knit neighborhood, there's a lot of children. There's a school up the street that helps us a lot, so it'll be a little positive for the neighborhood,"  Karayiannis says.
