Stamford counselor gives tips on coping with post-election stress

While many are overjoyed at the election of President-Elect Trump, many others are experiencing a lot of anxiety. News 12 spoke with a local counselor who has a few tips on how to avoid post-election

While many are overjoyed at the election of President-Elect Trump, many others are experiencing a lot of anxiety.
News 12 spoke with a local counselor who has a few tips on how to avoid post-election stress.
A social worker at the Family Centers location in Stamford, Jessica Schilero, says she's not surprised by the level of anxiety some people have felt after the election. 
She says people aren't sure of how Trump will lead, so they're heading into unfamiliar territory. But, Schilero says there are steps people can take to decrease some of the anxiety. One of the most important things she says people should do is to focus on their day-to-day activities, which she says won't change at least for now. 
By doing that, she says people can ease some of the stress they're feeling. 
Despite the mixed reactions that people have had to the elections results, people who spoke to News 12 shared one thing in common: They all believe that at some point, people will have to accept their new president-elect and move forward together.
