Parking fees at the Stamford Town Center's garage will be increasing next week, according to the mall's website.
Starting Monday, the price will go up to $4 to park for four hours. It currently costs only 75 cents to park for the same amount of time.
Mall officials say the price structure is changing because pay stations are being installed in the parking garage. The pay stations are similar to those seen around Stamford, and officials say the rates are comparable to other lots around the city.
The mall previously used metered marking. Officials say the new stations will make paying easier for shoppers, who will no longer have to go digging for change. The new machines will take dollar bills and credit or debit cards.
Residents who spoke with News 12 say they are not happy with the fee hike.
The mall is installing 54 pay stations. Some of them will be located inside the mall so shoppers can top off if their time is running out.
