Maria Saez of Stamford reached out to News 12 Connecticut. Her son, 21-year-old Jaquan Tahir Saez, was murdered at Boccuzzi Park in Stamford three years ago.

On Monday, March 20, 2023, Stamford police received a call that someone had found a dead body in the park. Police say Saez was killed the day before and had been reported missing by his family.

His mother says he was in a relationship with Abraham Talbert. Police say Talbert and Saez met at the park, and Talbert killed Saez. Talbert was arrested a few months later and has been behind bars ever since.

Now, Maria Saez is hoping Talbert will receive the maximum sentence.

“Just hoping that they see fit, that the judge and the system see fit that he receives the maximum sentence,” Saez said.

Talbert, who pleaded not guilty three years ago, will appear before a judge Tuesday. He has reportedly been offered a 40-year plea deal, while Maria Saez is hoping for the maximum 60-year sentence.
