Police investigators have delivered their report on the fatal Christmas Day fire that killed five people to the state attorney's office in Stamford, which will decide whether or not to press criminal charges. Police say they conducted more than 60 interviews, questioning homeowner Madonna Badger and Michael Borcina, her boyfriend and the home's contractor. Authorities say the fireplace embers Borcina allegedly left in the trash eventually set the Shippan Avenue home ablaze. Neighbors, firefighters and family members were also contacted. David Cohen, state attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk, will decide whether anyone involved was criminally responsible, and will continue additional interviews as needed. Madonna Badger's three daughters and her parents were killed in the fire. The attorney for the girls' father says any decision to file a civil case against Borcina is forthcoming.
