A Stamford police officer is back home after battling the coronavirus for weeks.
Officer Mike Burke is a 19-year veteran of the Stamford Police Department and says he had lung issues in the past, but has never experienced anything like the virus.
He says a month ago, he wasn't feeling well and went to Greenwich Hospital where he tested positive.
The department believes he was infected with coronavirus at the Stamford jail where he works.
After a three-week battle, he was transferred to a rehabilitation facility, and last Tuesday, he went home.
He says when he was sick, he found out his mother had also tested positive for the virus along with double pneumonia. She is in an intensive care unit.
Doctors say he should make a full recovery.
Burke says he's not sure when he will be able to come back to work. He says he still feels weak and tired, but his breathing is improving.
