Stamford police are searching for four men they say assaulted and robbed another man on Selleck Street Monday night.
Police say the 26-year-old victim was held up around at around 11 p.m. while he was walking to his home. According to authorities, the four robbers stole several hundred dollars before fleeing on foot. Lt. Sean Cooney, of the Stamford Police Department, says many similar robberies have recently occurred in Stamford's immigrant community.
"They distrust the banks," Cooney says. "They are feeling safe about leaving the money at home, so we find quite often that people do carry large sums of cash. We've tried in the past to discourage that, but it seems to still prevail."
Cooney says the victim suffered a broken nose and was treated at Stamford Hospital. Stamford police ask anyone with information to call the detectives at 203-977-4417.
