A Stamford teen was charged in court today for allegedly assaulting his teacher while at school.
The incident, according to authorities, occurred yesterday morning at Stamford Academy on North Street. Police say the student lashed out when approached about his behavior in the hallway.
Shaquille Waldron-Gray, 18, is charged with assault. Waldron-Gray allegedly punched his teacher, grabbed him by the tie and choked him until other teachers intervened.
Police say the assault occurred because the teacher had reported Waldron-Gray for threatening him. Waldron-Gray is also accused of taking a swing at a police officer who approached him after the incident.
Waldron-Gray then ran to a nearby parking garage before being arrested. He is expected back in court April 10.
