A Stamford woman is facing charges after Norwalk police say she left her baby in a vehicle twice while she worked out.
According to police, 46-year-old Hiroko Kurihara left her infant in an SUV Wednesday while she was working out at a local gym.
Investigators say the mother left the child in the vehicle for one hour in the morning and for about 30 minutes later in the day.
Jen Pennucci, a day care worker from a nearby location, called police after hearing the infant crying out in distress.
Police say that they attempted to smash the car's window to remove the baby from the car.
The Department of Children and Families is investigating the case.
Kurihara is facing two felony charges.
Authorities say that the baby is in the care of its father.
