The eighth annual "Brews on Bedford" beer festival, which was scheduled for Saturday in Stamford's Latham Park, was canceled with less than a week's notice.
Advertising over 20 local breweries, along with food trucks, craft vendors, lawn games and music, the event has drawn large crowds in the past.
But on Tuesday morning before this year's event, ticket holders received an email saying it was being canceled "due to unforeseen circumstances," and that everyone was getting a refund, before also posting about it being canceled on social media.
Participating breweries who spoke with News 12 said they got a similar message, with no reason given, leading to a lot of confusion and people wondering if it was because of the weather forecast or something else.
News 12 reached out to Stamford Downtown, which puts the event on, and they said that the issue was that ticket sales were not as high as they needed them to be, and they could not wait too long to make a decision, so, they made the call to cancel it.
Stamford Downtown does say for everyone disappointed, this is not the end, and they expect the event to be back in the future.
They will also have other events coming up like wine festivals, and hope to make up for everything they are missing out on here.
