Staples High School football coach departs for University of New Mexico

Adam Behrends, who has been with the Wreckers for five seasons, is leaving Westport to take up a coaching position at the University of New Mexico.

One of the most storied high school football programs in the state, Staples High School, is now in search of a new head coach.
Adam Behrends, who has been with the Wreckers for five seasons, is leaving Westport to take up a coaching position at the University of New Mexico.
Under Behrends' leadership, Staples won a state championship in 2023 and ended the season as the number one ranked team in Connecticut.
There has been no announcement regarding who will replace Behrends as head coach.
