Gov. Dannel Malloy has activated the state's Severe Cold Weather Protocol due to the cold snap going on in southwestern Connecticut.
That means there will be warming centers throughout the state open today.
Malloy says anyone who is homeless or living without heat should call 211 to find the nearest shelter or warming center.
Advocates for the homeless in Stamford say they are combing the city in an effort to ensure no one has to spend long periods of time on the streets.
The Pacific Street Shelter temporarily increased its capacity from 82 beds to 100 to accommodate more people needing to escape the cold.
