The town of Trumbull is treating some of its residents to a free lunch with the launch of its Local Meals program.
Trumbull won a $200,000 grant from the state Department of Housing, which will be used to give free lunches or dinners to residents who have lost income or been hit with expenses due to the pandemic. The meals will be available at 13 participating restaurants.
Residents can apply for an ID number for the program. Old Towne Restaurant owner Cathy Rountos says it's a nice boost for local restaurants as well.
Trumbull residents who have been hit hard by the pandemic and are interested in the town buying them a meal or two can reach out to the Human Services Department or the senior center.
