Lawmakers gave final approval Friday to a bill that would allow people kill bears that are threatening them.
It comes after dozens of bear encounters throughout the state over recent years.
"These bears are too habituated. They're breaking into homes. They're attacking livestock, they're attacking people. It's become dangerous," said state Rep. Vin Candelora.
Lawmakers dropped plans to ban "unintentional feeding" of bears.
They also abandoned a controversial proposal for a limited bear hunt in Litchfield County.
