The chief state medical examiner Wednesday released the cause of death of a Sandy Hook father who police say was found dead in Edmond Town Hall, where he had an office.
Jeremy Richman, 49, died of a hanging during a suicide, the chief medical examiner says.
Richman was the founder of the Avielle Foundation and the father of Avielle Richman who was killed in the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012.
He was found dead Monday at the Edmond Town Hall in Newtown.
Police say there was a note near his body, but they are not releasing information about it.
Richman created the Avielle Foundation in his daughter's memory and dedicated his work to violence prevention by improved mental health research.
