State police say more than 1,600 drivers received tickets over the New Year's weekend for violations including unsafe lane changes and talking on their cell phones. Officials say they pulled over 996 drivers for speeding since New Year's Eve and 63 people were cited for not wearing their seat belts. Forty-one were charged with drunken driving.
