State Sen. Herron Gaston said Sunday that he plans to work with the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus in the Connecticut State Legislature to make curbing gun violence a top priority of the current legislative session.
"We lose far too many of our young people and we want to ensure that that doesn't happen, and that we're able to curb and reduce gun violence drastically here in the City of Bridgeport," Gaston said. "So we're going to be working very closely with the Bridgeport delegation, along with the Black and Puerto Rican caucus to make sure that's a part of our legislative agenda, to bring more funding and resources to places like Bridgeport."
Gaston said in an average year, gun violence leads to 185 deaths in Connecticut.
