Gov. Dannel Malloy says millions of dollars in food stamp benefits, now known as federal SNAP payments, will be going to low-income households hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy.

The food replacement benefits are targeted to families whose groceries spoiled during days of electric power outages.

Affected households will be credited electronically tomorrow with an additional 25 percent of their normal monthly amount on their electronic benefits cards.
