Prayer vigils were held throughout Connecticut tonight as residents try to grasp the severity of Friday's school shooting.

People gathered at St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown, Christ Episcopal and East Avenue United Methodist churches in Norwalk and the Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola at Fairfield University.

Church leaders say they're keeping their doors open for anyone wishing to extend a prayer to the victims and their families.
