The STORM Academy head basketball coach is recalling a Bridgeport teen who was shot in the head on April 10.
Bridgeport police said Romain Sterling, 17, died at the hospital on Wednesday, one week after he was critically shot on the West Side.
STORM Academy's head basketball coach Jamar T. Brown says being the spokesperson for Romain's family has been challenging.
"It's taken a lot out of me because I still have to tell fifth, sixth and seventh graders that Romain's no longer here," said Brown.
"He had so much talent, nice looking. He loved basketball,” Brown added. "He loved his family, too.”
He says Sterling was a junior at Central High School and a regular at Olivet Congregational Church in the Hollow section of Bridgeport.
"I just respect him so much, and I love the whole family,” said Brown.
He says the teen played an important role in the STORM Academy basketball program, which can often be seen holding practice at a court on North Avenue.
Bridgeport police said the shooting remains under investigation.
