A storm is bringing snow, sleet and rain to western Connecticut to wrap up the first weekend of 2021.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for much of western Connecticut through 12 a.m. Monday.
News 12 meteorologists say another round of showers and snow is. coming through this evening, and it will be steadier at times.
We can expect minor accumulation with temperatures near freezing or slightly above. For areas south of the Merritt Parkway, it's more rain with some sleet or even snow at times.
The precipitation will continue through the evening and into the overnight hours before tapering off early Monday morning.
Areas north of the Merritt Parkway can expect accumulations of about 1-3 inches of snow. But areas further south of the Merritt can expect lesser amounts of a coating to an inch, where more mixing occurs.
The morning commute on Monday might be a bit slick following the precipitation, so drivers are urged to give themselves extra time. But weather conditions improve for Monday, with partly cloudy skies and highs around 43 degrees.
