So that rain is expected to taper off by midday, but let's take a look now at current conditions in Westport. Greg Thompson is out there now. Greg, how are things looking out there? Yeah, I know you had said that front hasn't started coming in yet. We don't quite have that Alicia Keys situation where we start falling, but it is a little bit chilly out here right now with that rain coming down. You said things not too bad yet, but we are starting to see some spotted little power outages across the area that we've been monitoring like you said, along the water here is where some of the bigger impacts are going to be. That's where a lot of things are starting to popping up right now. We have smaller outages sort of along that coast in Stamford and Darien and Norwalk. We have little tiny ones, but also some of the impacts being felt more inland. We have Ridgefield has a little bit of an outage. We had a bigger one that we were at earlier this morning in Trumbull that's been cleared up since then. Now in terms of the rain, obviously we have not just what's coming down out of the sky, we have a lot of the snow. Know from earlier in this week over the weekend that's been melting down. We see not a ton of flooding. You say that's not obviously going to be the biggest concern, but we do start to see behind me some a little puddling here here in the Sagato area, both in the parking lot and then out in the road starting to get slick. So obviously flooding, we don't know how big of a deal it's going to be, but as we start to see the things like that. The rain both combining with the snow, it is something to be watching out for. We spoke with the state Department of Transportation. They said even if it doesn't look like it's a big deal, it's best not to take any chances. You never know how deep the water actually is, so that's why we always recommend and stress that if you do see water on the roadway to turn around. And if you do see that in your neighborhood, the best thing that you could do is call 911, get responders out there to check it out. It's an old classic line. If you see something, say something that especially applies to companies say both United Illuminating and Eversource, as we start to potentially see some of those power outages popping up throughout the day. If things start going out in your neighborhood, if you see a tree down, if you see a wire down, always call it in, make sure they know about it, and they will get their crews out there as soon as possible. Let's take a look now outside live currently with Greg, who's currently in Trumbull. Greg, how are things looking out there? Yeah, well, we have some good news as you can see behind me. It seems like lights are on. Christmas is saved, but this was a lot different just a few minutes ago. You mentioned a lot of the impacts closer to the water, but even here up inland a little bit, we did have a massive power outage that lasted just a little bit under an hour where we're told that over 630 customers right around here in this Main Street area a little bit north of downtown were without power. Now we talked to workers. They said something weather related caused the circuit to trip up here. They were going actually up and down if you can see this power line and above me, they were going up and down the street trying to find exactly where the impact was just a little before 6 p.m. they say they found it and just, you know, pretty much as you were in that weather report, Leanne, um, a little after 6, these lights all came back on right around here. So the good news, like we said, Christmas has saved the festival of lights here with night 5 still ongoing. Back, I don't have to go back home, get my menorah to light the way out here. But again, like you said, there's still a lot going on. The rain slowly starting to pick up right now. We're going to see the flooding, like you said, closer to the water, the wind going on. We have the snow on the ground melting, also getting water out and some slickness out onto the roadways. So we spoke with the State Department of Transportation yesterday. They said as you're getting out on the roads this morning, their biggest advice is just really go slow. We all have a shared responsibility when it comes to roadway safety. So if you are heading out tomorrow morning, as always, we're reminding people to please slow down, be vigilant, be careful, and if you see water on the roadway, we can't emphasize this enough, please turn around. And they do say there are crews out on the road getting ready for any trees, any flooding that might come down. Also as power outages go out, whether you have Eversource, whether you have United Illuminating, they all say if you see something, say something, give them a call. Always report it, even if you think one of your neighbors did. The more calls they get, the more awareness they get, the quicker they can get here and try and get things back online.
