Wednesday's cold will be quickly replaced by May-like warmth Thursday as another wild swing in temperatures is on the way. It will be in the lower 40s for the rest of this evening as a few passing showers will cross the borough around 8 p.m. These showers will unlock warmer weather, but it will wait until the fog and clouds clear on Thursday. Patchy fog is likely overnight as temperatures stay in the 40s if not slightly rise closer to 50 degrees by daybreak. The fog and clouds will be stubborn in the morning. As some sun peeks out around midday Thursday it will quickly get warm, from the 50s to the 70s away from the coast. It will stay in the 60s at the coast.
This 70-degree warmth will once again be short-lived as another chance for thunderstorms returns after 5 p.m. It will not be as intense or widespread as Monday's strong storms, but an isolated chance for a pop-up severe storm can't be ruled out between 5 and 11 p.m. A brief break follows the isolated storms, then more steady rain returns for the Friday morning commute. Anticipate a slower go Friday morning as rain will be moderate at times. The rain quickly clears by noon and the sun returns with temperatures in the upper 60s.
It once again gets cold quick Friday night, as another major temperature swing is on the way. From 69 at 4 p.m. to 49 at 4 a.m., a 20-degree drop in 12 hours. A few more rain showers are expected between 4 a.m. and noon on Saturday. Temperatures on Saturday will be stuck in the 40s. Get ready for one more wild temperature swing Saturday into Sunday, as temperatures go from 45 at Saturday night to 75 Sunday afternoon. Just like Monday and Thursday, another chance of late-day strong-to-severe storms is expected. Details remain limited but check back for hyperlocal weekend forecast updates and follow Allan @AWxNYC on social media. It will be cold all day long on Wednesday, as high temperatures struggle to reach the upper 40s, feeling like closer to just 40 degrees. 40 degrees is typical for a February day.
The cold snap will end once showers roll by Wednesday evening. Expect a quick hit of rain around 8 p.m., then temperatures even slightly rise through the night to near 50 degrees.
