Family, friends and Bridgeport officials gathered Friday to remember the lives lost in a tragic accident 29 years ago.
On April 23, 1987, there was a collapse at the L'Ambiance Plaza construction site. The accident killed 28 construction workers and injured 22 others, making it the worst construction accident in Connecticut's history.
The tragedy led to nationwide safety rule changes in the construction industry.
Bridgeport city leaders and union workers held the memorial one day before the actual anniversary.
