The Connecticut Audubon Society is looking for volunteers to help track the soaring osprey population in Connecticut.

The bird's population has recently come back after nearing extinction. The population has gotten so big that the birds are nesting inland and along the shoreline.

Among the volunteers who have signed up to help track the birds is Jill Mahar, a recent college graduate who is around 40 years younger than the typical "birder." Mahar, who has a degree in wildlife conservation from the University of Delaware, says her grandparents got her interested in birdwatching as a child.

The society says it's in need of more volunteers to help watch the birds.
