An arrest warrant for a Stratford man accused of fatally shooting his niece says the incident started because of an argument between the woman and her boyfriend.
Raenetta Catchings, 27, got into a heated argument with her boyfriend, 24-year-old Marc Elliott, on Aug. 13, according to the warrant.
The warrant says that Catchings' family members came to her aid during the argument. Elliott says he was assaulted as he was surrounded by five or six men.
Elliott then says he heard Raenetta's uncle, 21-year-old Michael Catchings, say to him "I'll shoot your whole family. I'll shoot this whole block."
Elliott says he was then shot in the chest by Michael Catchings and ran and hid behind someone's house. The gunfire accidentally hit Raenetta Catchings in the chest and killed her, according to police.
Michael Catchings was arraigned at Bridgeport Superior Court Monday afternoon. The judge ordered that his bond remain at $500,000.
Police say Elliott was listed in critical condition but is now out of the hospital.
Catchings turned himself in to police Friday. He is due back in court next month.
