Malls and shopping centers were swamped Friday with people trying to grab last-minute gifts.

Procrastinators were in their element at the Menlo Park Mall.

"I like being up against the clock, that type a thing," says Shawn Ross.

The National Retail Federation says 24 percent of shoppers it surveyed expect to finish their shopping this weekend. Another 7 percent will cross the finish line Christmas Eve.

For those racing against the clock, the Menlo Park Mall will be open until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The Target across the street will be open until 10 p.m. that night.
